_A New Era for DAOs: The Launch of the Secure Worker Proposal System

On September 25, Alien Worlds will launch a new set of parallel DAOs and a proposal system. Join the Dacoco team on Thursday, Sep. 26, for a live space on X (Twitter) to discuss the launch and answer your questions.

As Alien Worlds continues to push the boundaries of decentralized governance, we are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking new system designed to foster larger, more complex projects within our metaverse. Today, we are launching the Worker Proposal System, an entirely new mechanism that enables explorers to propose and execute ambitious projects. With this launch, we’re introducing two important components: a secure verification process for key roles, and an arbiter and escrow system to ensure fair dispute resolution and smooth project execution.

This new system will affect only a small fraction of explorers within the Alien Worlds ecosystem—specifically, those who choose to participate in managing or executing large-scale projects through the Worker Proposal System. The new system does not affect the Syndicate DAOs or the day-to-day activities that most explorers enjoy. This launch represents a significant progression in decentralized governance, helping DAOs take a step toward real-world relevance.

Why the Worker Proposal System and Why Now?

Recently, Dacoco reached out to the Alien Worlds community with a survey, inviting Explorers to share their insights on a range of topics, including what they value most in the Metaverse and their perspectives on the Syndicates. (If you’d like to join our mailing list and stay informed, simply visit here).

The feedback received was positive, highlighting two clear trends: a strong demand for greater transparency in Syndicate proposal processes and an increased interest in community-driven game development.

To address these priorities, we are introducing the Union DAOs. Running alongside the existing Syndicate DAOs, the Union DAO system will introduce enhanced transparency for proposals and provide a robust framework for larger, more ambitious community-developed games. Key to this new system is a verification requirement for all participants, as well as the inclusion of an impartial Arbiter to resolve any disputes that arise, ensuring fairness and accountability throughout the proposal process.

By providing identity verification around project proposals, DAO treasury management, and transactions, we’re creating a space where larger and more long-term projects can thrive.

What is the Verification Process?

To ensure the integrity of the Worker Proposal System, custodians who manage funds, individuals receiving tokens for completing projects, and neutral third party arbiters will need to complete identity verification through a secure, third-party vendor (Sumsub). This process involves submitting proof of identity and relevant documents, ensuring that all key participants are verified. While verification only applies to a small group of users involved in managing large projects, it adds an important layer of security and compliance that protects the system from misuse or fraud.

How Does the Arbiter System Work?

In addition to identity verification, we’re launching an arbiter system to provide neutral third-party oversight for projects within the Worker Proposal System. When a proposal is funded, project funds will be placed into escrow. Once the project is complete an independent arbiter will evaluate the progress. Upon confirmation that all project criteria are met, the arbiter will release the appropriate funds from escrow to the workers in the event that a Worker and Union DAO cannot agree (Workers and Union DAOs can release tokens without Arbiter involvement.

This system ensures that projects can proceed smoothly, even in the event of disputes or custodian turnover. If conflicts arise between custodians and workers, the arbiter will serve as a mediator, ensuring fair resolutions and keeping the project on track.

How are the New Union DAOs Funded?

The Union DAOs are funded through DTAP in the same way that the Syndicate DAOs are. In fact, staking to the Syndicate DAOs is what also increases the available DTAP to the planet, which supplies funding to both the Syndicate DAOs and Union DAOs. In this way they are linked to one another and require one another for success. The Trilium that is available to Syndicate DAOs remains unchanged following the launch of the Union DAOs.

A New Path for DAOs to Meet the Real World

This launch is an exciting step toward bridging the gap between decentralized governance and real-world utility. The Worker Proposal System, supported by identity verification and the arbiter, is a bold experiment in creating DAOs that are equipped to handle complex, long-term projects in a transparent, accountable manner.

DAOs are tools for organizing, collaborating, and funding projects that can have a tangible impact on the world. With the Worker Proposal System, we’re enabling Explorers to take on larger projects with confidence, knowing that a fair, consistent framework is in place to support their efforts and protect their work.

What This Means for You

For most explorers, this new system will not change your day-to-day experience in Alien Worlds. All activities outside of the Worker Proposal System remain unaffected. However, for those who wish to propose or work on large-scale projects, the Worker Proposal System provides an entirely new opportunity to receive funding, execute ambitious plans, and contribute to the growth of the Alien Worlds ecosystem.

This system is a bold experiment in decentralized governance, and we’re excited to see how it will empower our community to take on larger, more ambitious projects.

Thank you for joining us on this journey as we explore new ways to build a metaverse that not only thrives virtually, but also sets the stage for real-world impact.
