The Role of Arbiters in the Alien Worlds Worker Proposal System

Alien Worlds is committed to fostering a stable and dynamic ecosystem through innovative, community-led projects. The introduction of the Worker Proposal system, along with the creation of six new Union DAOs, marks a significant step toward empowering builders and ensuring continuity in the Alien Worlds metaverse. These new DAOs, each governed by its own set of custodians, will facilitate support for valuable community-driven projects.

At the heart of this system is a crucial role: the Arbiter. Hailing from all corners of the Federation, these individuals have established themselves as core intermediaries between different factions and demographics across the galaxy - best known for overseeing the negotiation of complex and often fractious business deals between the Megacorps, and the Syndicates of the Frontier Planets. With the arrival of the Union DAOs, the Federation Congress believes that engaging their services will be key in ensuring the Worker Proposal system functions smoothly.

Explorers may notice that there are not many Arbiters currently in the system and that is because it is Explorers themselves who will become the Arbiters of the Alien Worlds Metaverse.

Ensuring Fair Play and Project Continuity

Arbiters play a vital role in the Worker Proposal system, acting as impartial overseers who step in when there is disagreement between the Worker and the Union DAO regarding project milestones. Their role is to resolve disputes by casting a deciding vote, ensuring that projects remain on track even in cases of Custodian turnover or disputes. This system creates a safe environment for larger and more ambitious projects to be undertaken.

Responsibilities of an Arbiter

Arbiters work closely with Custodians and Workers to review the details of each Worker Proposal. When a proposal reaches the stage of arbiter involvement, arbiters may review the project objectively. Their goal is to ensure that every project is completed to the satisfaction of the Union Custodians and the Worker.

Arbiters are also responsible for acting as the decider in the event of a dispute. In the event of a dispute, the arbiter is able to act as the tiebreaker vote to release tokens to the awarded party. It’s important to remember that this is not a legal process, but rather a human process adapted for a blockchain escrow system.

Steps to Become an Arbiter

Currently, all Arbiter roles are filled but stay tuned to Alien Worlds' social media channels for updates on future openings. Anyone in the Alien Worlds community will be able to nominate themselves to be Arbiters for Union DAO projects. Arbiters are not only dispute resolvers but also trusted members of the community who help maintain project momentum. Here’s how you can become an arbiter within the Alien Worlds Worker Proposal system:

  • Verify Your Identity: Custodians, applicants and arbiters must first go through a verification process to ensure they are legitimate, transparent, and committed to their role. This involves identity verification (e.g., showing ID through a dedicated UI and capturing a live image within the UI).

  • Demonstrate Knowledge: To qualify, arbiters must have a solid understanding of the Alien Worlds ecosystem and experience dealing with Custodians, Worker Proposals, and the community. This helps ensure they can make informed and unbiased decisions.

  • Commit to a Minimum Term: Arbiters must commit to a minimum term of four months, ensuring continuity and reliability within the dispute resolution process. This term allows arbiters to oversee projects from start to finish, providing consistent input if disputes arise.

  • Set Availability: Arbiters are expected to dedicate specific weekly hours to their role, ensuring they are available to address issues promptly. This helps maintain the momentum of the projects they oversee.

  • Reach out for Whitelisting: After verifying your identity and demonstrating your knowledge, reach out to a Dacoco team member on our official Discord or Telegram channels.

Enhancing Project Reliability and Community Trust

The introduction of arbiters and Union DAOs within the Worker Proposal system demonstrates Alien Worlds' commitment to a robust and equitable platform. By providing clear governance structures and reliable oversight, these roles enhance the credibility of funded projects and fortify the community's trust in Alien Worlds' governance framework. This is an exciting experiment in blockchain governance which Dacoco believes will lead to bigger games and bigger tools for the Alien Worlds Metaverse. Whether you're looking to propose a project or serve as an arbiter, the Worker Proposal system ensures that community-driven innovation thrives in a fair and transparent environment.
