Union DAOs Now Have Control Over Mining Rewards

A major update to Alien Worlds has just gone live, giving Union DAOs new tools to shape the in-game economy. Planetary DAOs can now redirect up to 10% of their mining reward pool (DTAP) to a destination account of their choosing, supporting new games, initiatives, and player-driven projects across the metaverse.

Until now, 100% of each planet’s DTAP was allocated directly to miners and landowners. With this change, Union DAOs gain the ability to fund alternative gameplay and incentivize innovation, all while keeping mining rewards intact. It’s another step toward deeper on-chain governance and practical utility for DAOs.

The redirection is managed through a simple multi-signature (MSIG) proposal created and approved by the Union DAO. Once set, a percentage of DTAP is automatically routed to the specified account and can be claimed at any time. This gives Unions new options for how they engage their communities and support projects that go beyond mining.

A new dropdown option has been added to the UI to simplify the setup process. Union DAO custodians can quickly select a planet, set the redirection percentage (up to 10%), and designate the receiving wallet.

To propose a new redirection percentage, simply head over to the Custodian Center. From there, the newly added dropdown option makes it easy to choose your target proposal type (DTAP Reward in this case) and adjust your allocation. Once submitted, the proposal will follow the standard DAO governance flow for approval.

As always, the power lies with the players. It’s up to each Union to decide how best to use this new system. Will they fund tournaments, back community games, or support new creators? That’s for you to decide.

Stay tuned to our social channels for information on a live discussion with the Union DAO custodians where we will discuss these changes.
